It is a new year and a time for new things. We hear this, we think it, we may even say it. But will we actually do it this time?
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, make this year the year of the Lord. You have special gifts and abilities that are unique. The things in which you have invested endless hours can be invested to bring glory to the Lord. Why not give back to Him what He has given to you, or at least He has given to you the time to grow in your skill?
Soon after Israel left the bondage of Egypt, they were given the 10 Commandments and many other instructions. God commanded them to build a sanctuary, and many were called who had special skills in building and making things. There were two men who were put in charge (Bezalel and Oholiab), but many were involved in it. They were called up to do what they knew how to do.
The Lord called them to this work, and it had nothing to do with teaching Bible classes or preaching. Some are called to that, sure, but there are tons of things that must be done in advancing God’s kingdom. Simply give back to the Lord your best work, your best skills, your best interests. Make this year one that belongs to your Savior and Lord.
Exodus 36:1-2--“Now Bezalel and Oholiab, and every skillful person in whom the Lord has put skill and understanding to know how to perform all the work in the construction of the sanctuary, shall perform in accordance with all that the Lord has commanded.” Then Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every skillful person in whom the Lord had put skill, everyone whose heart stirred him, to come to the work to perform it.
