Can we trust the Lord's wisdom?

January 10, 2018

“He is the King of Israel; let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him.” Mt 27:42

There are times when we believe that we have clear insight as to what the Lord should do right now. We always want Him to do great things in our time, in our moment, especially if we are benefitted in some way.

The main reason Jesus came was to pour out His life for ours on the cross. He did it not just for the generation living at the time, but for all generations for all of time.

There is an additional lesson here for us too. Faithfulness has an eternal benefit. As we learn to walk with Christ, we may not see Him do things as we would like, but the Author of Life and Prince of Peace knows what He is doing and what He calls us to do has eternal value for countless generations. Let us be faithful in our worship, in our service to Him, in our service to each other. The generations coming after us and the church that lies in the future is in need of our faithfulness today.

John 12:27-28—Now My soul has become troubled; and what shall I say, ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came out of heaven: “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”
